Portugal: We'll Be Back!

PortugalAfter some hard months of withdrawals but no returns, Eurovision Fans were getting a little anxious and were wondering if it were going to be as exciting having less countries. Well that fear is over, for Portugal, a country who missed out the 2013 edition due to financial issues, have confirmed their return!

45 times out of 48 years since its debut has Portugal performed, only missing out a few years (2013 being one). Their best result comes from the 1996 Eurovision, scoring a very respectable 6th place. Portugal is the country with the longest participation without a win. But who's to know? Maybe RTP have saved up some extra money in order to WIN and HOST the Eurovision? Whatever happens, Portugal are set to make a sure fire comeback!

For me, the most memorable song was definitely their song in 2009. It was pure happiness! Shame about its placing.. if it weren't Alexander's year, and Andrew Lloyd Webber didn't compose the United Kingdom's entry, some could say Portugal would be tipped for the top! But nonetheless, they scored respectively, coming 15th with 57 points (still beat Spain, its neighbouring country).

I'm very excited about this return, as I know many Portuguese fans. It will please them, too, and may Portugal thrive in Copenhagen (and not flop like Monaco did when it returned).
